Project Description and Goals
Since August 2022, I have worked on several tasks for Scania, but over the past year, I have focused entirely on developing the BEV navigation service for electric trucks. The goal of the project was to create a user-friendly navigation service within the current system that facilitates route planning, identification of charging stations, and efficient charging planning for truck drivers.

Challenges and Solutions
The project has presented several challenges. The biggest was that there are few electric trucks on the market, making research and benchmarking difficult.
Designing a complex system while keeping it understandable for users was another major challenge.

To address these challenges:
• Benchmarking: My team and I test drove electric cars and analyzed dashboards from both cars and trucks to identify strengths and weaknesses.
• Adaptation for trucks: Since there is a significant difference between electric cars and trucks, adaptations in the design were required.
• User Testing: By testing prototypes with truck drivers early on and continuously throughout the process, we ensured that the service was user-friendly and functional.
My Role and Contribution
I have been heavily involved in the project from the start and have played a central role in planning and executing the design process. My main tasks have been:
• Planning and Process: Shared responsibility for project planning and the design process.
• Research and User Testing: Planning, execution, and analysis.
• Collaboration: Worked closely with the team, product owners, and development teams. My role as a link between different stakeholders added value by bringing the user’s perspective into the development process and ensuring their needs were prioritized in the design.
• Prototype Design: Creation of prototypes and solutions for the navigation system.
• Project Management: Held meetings and planned workflows. I have worked cross-functionally and been an important link between different stakeholders in the project.

Results and Successes
The first iteration of BEV navigation is now on the market. Although user feedback has not yet been collected, the design was approved for production, and the product owner expressed great satisfaction with the result.
Reflections
Throughout the project, I have learned a lot about working with new technologies and design challenges. I have developed a deeper understanding of the importance of early user testing and how crucial it is to work iteratively in complex projects. Also, the ability to navigate and create design solutions within the constraints of the system.
